Women's Sleep
Author's note:
It was in researching for my book that I became aware of the epidemic of women's sleep issues. According to a study from Australia, over 65 percent of young women report regular sleep issues, with overrepresentation in the insomnia community across almost all age ranges, countries, and cultures. While the reason is usually multifaceted, the problem can often have its roots in hormonal fluctuations and/or anxiety.
Below, I've compiled a selection of what I believe are some of the best and most useful products specifically helpful for women. Follow the links to the original companies to check out their amazing products.
The Sleep Again Pillow System
The company Sleep Again, whose pillows are displayed below, is a women-built, women-run company from Colorado, USA. One of the founders is a cancer survivor. She designed the Pillow System for those who, like her, had sleep issues in difficult times.
This five-piece pillow system is the sleeper's dream. Originally designed for women who have undergone mastectomies and other surgeries, the Sleep Again Pillow System gently accommodates anyone looking for an ergonomic sleep—especially nurturing for bodies in recovery.
Imagined and designed by two women from Colorado, these pillows have been a life raft for a number of survivors of cancer and physical trauma. Shaped and positioned to the body's natural contours, these underbody pillows are about as close as one can get to the Zero-Gravity sleep position used by NASA astronauts.

Note: The system 'bundle' is a different product from the standard 'pillow system', including an additional travel/storage bag and fitted sheet.

Larissa Post-Surgical Bra
The Larissa bra uses patented technology to comfortably and effectively support women after upper body surgeries or mastectomies. With a sporty look and practical design, the Larissa bra holds drains and provides medical compression—made comfortable and secure with soft yet strong medical-grade Velcro. Designed to be simple, with pockets able to hold puffs or ice, this premium bra is both strong and breathable.
Chest Pillow
This chest pillow from Sleep Again is a must-have for anyone who's undergone breast or heart surgery, providing velvety-soft protection for sensitive areas. With arm-holes and a useful front pocket, this pillow hugs you back, providing even, comfortable pressure without aggravation.
Wedge Pillow
The wedge pillow is a versatile support for both sleeping and daytime chilling. Useful for raising the torso or the legs, the angled shape helps to improve swelling and sleep alignment, enhancing circulation, and supporting those in recovery.
Seatbelt Pillow
Another wonder-product for post-surgery women, this seatbelt pillow has other uses too. As extra warmth and comfort on commutes and trips, this snug ally is the friend you never knew you needed. A small investment for world-changing comfort.

Helping to absorb free electrons while you sleep, grounding/earthing bedsheets are amazing for reducing inflammation and helping to reduce sleep onset—the time it takes to fall asleep. Said to support joint pain, reduce puffiness and bring a whole variety of other health benefits, with the help of these bedsheets, sleep is your doctor.
Red Light Therapy
Red-light therapy is premium sleep support. Specifically at 630–670 nm wavelengths directed to the face, upper chest/neck, and abdomen, this light helps give the brain a boost in melatonin, calming the nervous system, and acting as a powerful countermeasure against the stimulating blue light of the day. For women, it’s particularly powerful: studies suggest it can ease hormone-related sleep disruptions, soothe inflammation and tension, and even support skin health, creating a cascade of conditions that make deeper, more restorative sleep far more likely. A simple, noninvasive ritual with surprisingly profound nighttime benefits, red-light therapy has been scientifically shown in female athletes to improve physical endurance and sleep quality.
High-powered but gentle, these red light panels use multi-wavelength pulsing technology, maximising absorption of multi-benefit red light. Great for evening routines or as a desk companion, these sleep-improvers are built for safe, everyday use with ultra-low EMF and flicker-free design.
A high-quality silicone light-therapy mask. With four clinically proven light wavelengths, better skin is just the beginning. Found to boost collagen production and enhance skin tone and texture, red light to the face is a great way to boost melatonin production.
A sleek, portable therapy device with a powerful delivery. Promoting cellular energy, better skin, and deeper sleep, this little pocket-sized doctor is great for supporting natural recovery and rest.
